IF YOU COULD FILL A GYMNASIUM WITH LOVE… THIS IS WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE:
There wasn’t an empty seat in the house– as a community came together to remember 14 year old Giovanni Cipriano.
It was a tribute basketball game, organized by The Inwood Buccaneers and the HAFTR basketball team, The Haftr Hawks, to help support the Cipriano family.
The fundraiser took place at Haftr.
Gio suffered a severe allergic reaction after eating a food containing peanuts. Despite all efforts to save Gio, he fell into a coma and passed away a few weeks later.
Proceeds from the fundraiser go to The Cipriano family for medical and other expenses. The community raised more than $6,000 dollars.
The event also raised awareness and provided education about food allergies.
