Billy Crystal Back on His Home Court

Dreams do come true!
Billy Crystal grew up dreaming in Long Beach NY–

Today he was back in his old hometown for the dedication of two new Dream Courts at the Long Beach Recreation Center.

Crystal, along with basketball superstar Nancy Lieberman (and the Nancy Lieberman Foundation) and with the help of World Ventures Foundation teamed up to give back to the city by the sea that was hit so hard by Superstorm Sandy. Crystal and Lieberman’s donation made the Dream Courts possible.

Crystal was joined by his brothers Richard and Joel in an emotional “homecoming”.

Joel Crystal recalled what it was like in the days after Sandy, and how his brother, Billy helped residents of Long Beach in the dark days after the storm by arranging a special showing of his movie “Parental Guidance”. Billy Crystal described what it was like growing up in Long Beach dreaming big, all while playing baseball and basketball at the Recreation Center. For the Crystal brothers, they were always dream courts.

Crystal and Lieberman were joined by Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senator Dean Skelos, Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg along with City Council President Scott Mandel. After the ribbon cutting– it was time for a little one on one as Crystal and Lieberman took to the court. Crystal donated 1 million dollars to help Long Beach recover after Sandy. He said he is planning more projects to benefit the city.

Slam dunk! And a great day for the city.
