One on One with the “Ghost Adventures” Crew. Secrets of Season 6

Be afraid. Be very afraid…

Yes, the “GHOST ADVENTURES” crew is back for season number 6 and if you want to be up close and personal with the “other side” in some of the world’s most frightening locations —well then, you’ve come to the right place, Travel Channel Fridays at 9pm ET/PT.

And if you think your job is tough, well then you probably haven’t experienced a dusk to dawn lockdown with Ghost Adventurers Zak Bagans, Nick Groff, Aaron Goodwin…and whatever other souls decide to show up.

I bit through five nails just watching the promo for tonight’s episode, which features a long, scary night at the Peabody-Whitehead Mansion in Denver, CO.  Special guest ghost hunter UFC fighter Brendan Schaub comes along on this paranormal investigation into an unsolved murder at the mansion. Will he be any match for the spirits there?

Talking to Zak, Nick and Aaron about the new season, I wondered if I have what it takes to spend a night with the ghost hunting trio. After asking a few questions about their experiences on the show—well, the answer was clear: I would last at least 5 (seconds, that is!)

Sure, these guys have nerves of steel—but there must be SOMETHING that actually shakes them to the core.  So, I had to ask.

Aaron weighed in first. “Probably spiders. Spiders right now because they’re small and they come up and they crawl up on you and you don’t know it and then they decide to bite you and then you’re like, oh, what’s that and the next thing you know you’re in the hospital.”

For Zak, it was snakes. “I have a phobia of snakes”.

And for Nick, the answer was morgues. “I don’t like morgues because I’ve been in them way too much.”

(Truth be told, that last answer scares me just a little bit.)

But what scares me the most about talking to these ghost hunting gurus, would be getting a dinner invitation to one of their homes. You see, the crew often takes their work home with them, LITERALLY. And “uninvited guests” after an investigation are a frequent problem.

“And since following us I’ve had about 15 of my friends have experiences in my house. Just two nights ago sleeping in my with my dog in my guest room with the door shut and at 3:30 in the morning we can hear her squeaky toy squeaking out in the living room. It never ends,” says Zak , referring to a recent investigation.

“Once a spirit who has been trying for 60 years to try and get somebody to listen to them so they can get closure for their own selves, once that spirit realizes now a living person has just heard them – like in the movie Ghost when, you know, Patrick Swayze finds out that Whoopi Goldberg can hear him, what does he do? He doesn’t leave her alone. That’s a fictional movie but a very accurate portrayal on what we do. “

So how does the crew prep themselves for a night of nail biting, hair raising investigations of the other side? Is it deep breathing, meditation, stress relief? Do they say a few prayers?

“Learning the story and interviewing the people and just letting your body become sensitive to the location is very very very very important as investigators because it’s basically, you know, balances you out for that energy. You know, that’s what it does. It sets your body to that emotional state to connect better with the spirits”, explained Zak.

I’m prepping for the latest episode too, safely and  from a distance on my couch! You can connect with “Ghost Adventures” from the comfort of your own couch Fridays at 9pmET/PT on Travel Channel.
